The Queen of Latex Art is coming to BRUSH!!
Brush Gallery are excited to announce a solo-show by unique latex-artist, Michelle Mildenhall. ‘KINKS’ will launch with a private view on September 10th and will feature new work by the acclaimed Brighton-based artist.
Through her portrait-based work, Michelle seduces the viewer into a world of disconcerting beauty by using popular but somewhat taboo themes of sexuality, fetishism and subversion.
Michelle has produced a number of new works for the exhibition including a special piece which deals with the biggest mtyh associated with rape, that women are“asking for it” purely because of how they choose to dress. The artwork features one of the world’s most recognizable women, Marilyn Monroe. Michelle depicts her in a latex fetish harness, and asks the question is she asking for it? To highlight the fact that no matter how women are dressed we are not “asking for it” All women have the right to freedom of expression.
Michelle is now exploring the use of paint and will present some spray/ stencil works at the exhibition, alongside her more familiar latex-creations.

More Information
All Michelle Mildenhall’s artworks radiate an underlying element of sexual association; not just from her imagery, but also due to the connotations of the medium in which she creates it. Each piece becomes defined and fetishized via it’s latex conceptualisation. Michelle feels that they all have strong characters and more often than not there is an erotic/fetishistic element to them, she thinks this is less about the physical appearance than it is about the subject’s state of mind.
Michelle’s work has developed around the limitations and nature of using latex as a medium. Every piece is made by hand and meticulously constructed.
Michelle has exhibited and sold her work in the UK and Worldwide.
